Students Refuse To Learn About WWII Because It Only Upsets Them

An Instagram influencer recently has a message to all the teachers in America. He wants them to stop teaching young people about World War II.

History teaches us that WWII involved the Nazis and concentration camps that killed millions of innocent people. This is why this 22-year-old Instagram influencer believes that it is ‘too intense’ to teach the millennial what happened during the war. According to the ‘snowflake,’ he argues that teaching youngsters about WWII would negatively impact the millennial’s mental health and do damage to their young and collective psyche.

Since this influencer, Freddie Bentley, appeared on TV to share his controversial view about education and WWII, many people bashed and disagreed with his beliefs. But this is what he wanted to happen when he was interviewed on Good Morning Britain. He argued that all schools all across Great Britain need to go easier on their young people, that they should stop teaching about this tragic conflict that thrust Europe into violence and war.

He said, “It was a hard situation, World War Two, I don’t want anyone to think I’m being disrespectful. I remember learning it as a child thinking, ‘Oh my God, it’s so intense.” He added, “I don’t think encouraging death or telling people how many people died in the world war is going to make it better.”

He also believes that instead of talking about this tragedy, it should be replaced with other things that could have an influence on young people’s real life. He believes that schools should teach more about the mortgage and understanding political issues that are currently changing Britain, such as Brexit.

He explained, “There are so many problems going on in the world, like Brexit, that’s not taught in schools. When I left school, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn’t know anything to do with life.”

Being a social media influencer, Bentley is a very popular figure, especially to young people. This is why he is able to reach out to a large number of people.

However, not everyone agreed with Bentley. Many people on Twitter attacked him and what he wants to happen. One Twitter user commented, “You need to learn respect, young man!” Other people also shared a similar feeling to Bentley.

Here are some of the comments about his statement:

“This made me so angry! Without people fighting that war, then idiots like this kid wouldn’t have the right to do what or be who they want! They fought for our freedom! So, learn about it, you, cretin!”

“Are you having a laugh Not talking about the war in school? Not educating them on what went wrong so it doesn’t happen again? You need to learn respect, young man.”

“This kid on (Good Morning Britain) is an idiot. What has the Second World War got to do with mental health.”

Even though many did not disagree with Bentley, there are also others who think that this influencer is right. They believe that Bentley is right when he commented about the heroic victory of the Allies who vanquished the Nazis. They also stand by him and telling teachers to ‘go easy on the kids’ especially to those who are desperate to learn so much about this chaotic world.

So, do you think the schools should update their curriculum? Or is it more important that teach young people about what really happened during World War II?
